As the KCSA told Suspilny, there are currently no emergency floods in Kyiv. However, there is the flooding of floodplains - this happens almost every year.

"Now the islands in the Muromets Park, Hydropark, Trukhaniv Island, Halerna Zatoka, Korchuvate, private plots in the Osokorkiv area are flooded," said Roman Tkachuk, director of the Department of Municipal Security of the KCSA.

According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the peak of the spring flood will occur around April 22. As of 12:00 on April 17, the water level in the Dnieper is 9,359 cm (critical level – 9,415 cm) according to the Baltic Height System.

"There are still 50-60 cm left before the critical water level. We understand that the water can reach this level, so we are conducting additional training of all services that can be used to help residents," Tkachuk emphasized.

In the Kyiv region, the Chornobyl reserve was also flooded.

"Kyivvodokanal" reported that the hydrological situation is under control, there is no threat of the Irpin River overflowing its banks. The water in Kyiv's taps may have a yellowish color, but it remains safe.

The situation in Dnipropetrovsk region

Due to biggest flood in 50 years, eight regions of Ukraine were affected 03

As of April 17, more than 150 country houses and 170 homesteads remain flooded in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Most of the water is in cottage cooperatives near the village of Kurylivka. There, more than 100 houses and several streets remain flooded.

The situation in Volyn

Due to biggest flood in 50 years, eight regions of Ukraine were affected 04

As of April 17, the flooded area in Volyn is 17,000 hectares of agricultural land and homesteads. Over the weekend, the flooded area doubled. On Friday, April 14, more than 7,000 hectares were under water. The largest - 14,000 hectares - were flooded in the Kamin-Kashir district.

"There is no improvement in the situation yet, it is raining, which has affected a sharp rise in the water level. On Saturday, April 15, almost 50% of the monthly rate of precipitation fell. On April 17, the Styr River flooded in Lutsk, and we are approaching the level of flooding in Kolkyi as well." - the deputy head of the regional office of water resources, Rostislav Kravchuk, commented on the situation.

From 14 to 20 pumping stations operate daily in the region, which have already pumped out more than 20 million cubic meters of water since the beginning of flooding in the region. The regional office of water resources noted that the last such large-scale and long-term flooding in Volyn was in 2013.

The situation in Zhytomyr region

As a result of the spring rains, the crossings and private farms of the Narodic community were partially flooded.

"In Grezla, the crossing was washed away and the main road, where a wooden bridge was built, was washed away. Currently, the bus and ambulance beyond Grezla to the village of Radcha, Nova Radcha and Stara Radcha can move freely. On the washed-out crossing, work will begin only when sappers will conduct an inspection there," Oleh Yarmolyuk, the head of the Naroditsa settlement military administration, told Suspilne.

He noted that it is impossible to carry out work on most of the flooded private gardens. Even if the water is pumped out, the next day it will rise again, because the water level in the river is quite high.

"We also have a problem with the crossing to the Bazarska zone, that is, across the Uzh River, where the bridge was damaged. Now there is a pontoon crossing, but the water level behind it and before the pontoon crossing has risen by 50-60 centimeters. We had experts from Zhytomyr. They conducted a survey. When the water level drops, then work will be carried out there. So far we cannot do anything on our own," he added.

Flooding of private farms was also recorded in Malyna of Korosten district and Chernyakhiv of Zhytomyr district.
