Коли одна труба замовкла, інша почала звучати. SOCAR, азербайджанська енергетична компанія, у липні підписала з «Нафтогазом» угоду про перші постачання газу в Україну. Маршрут іде з Каспію через Болгарію, Румунію — і далі в наші сховища.

Це поки що невеликі обсяги. Але їхня символіка більша за кубометри. Це сигнал: українська ГТС більше не заручник Москви, а ворота у світ нових можливостей.

Чому Росія б’є по SOCAR

Москва це відчула. І відповіла так, як уміє — вибухами. У серпні російські дрони вдарили по нафтобазі SOCAR в Одеській області. Потім ще раз. Це було не про військову логіку, а про енергетичну помсту.

Росія б’є по SOCAR не тому, що боїться кількох цистерн. Вона боїться ідеї. Ідеї, що Україна може жити без неї, що її труби можуть працювати без «Газпрому». Бояться того, що світ бачить: імперія втратила монополію.

Газ більше не зброя

Європа теж зробила свій вибір. Вона навчилася жити без російського газу: танкери зі зрідженим паливом, контракти з Норвегією та Азербайджаном, інші маршрути. Газ Кремля перестав бути «газом життя» для ЄС. Це тепер лише товар із присмаком шантажу, від якого відмовляються, як від поганої звички.

Українська правда

Так, нам складно. Так, ми втратили мільярд доларів на рік. Але що важливіше: ці гроші чи те, що наші діти більше не знатимуть слова «газовий шантаж»?

Україна вступає в нову добу. Ми не просто перестали бути транзитною державою для чужого ресурсу. Ми стали господарями власної енергетичної долі.

Коли в майбутньому запитають: «Коли Україна остаточно вирвалася з російської газової пастки?» — відповідь буде чіткою: на початку 2025 року. Тоді, коли труба спорожніла, але серце країни наповнилося новим повітрям.

І нехай Росія б’є дронами по нафтобазах, нехай лякає і руйнує. Вона вже програла головне. Вона втратила монополію на наш кисень. І ніколи більше його не поверне.

The very same Russian gas that for three decades coursed through Ukrainian land to Europe, feeding the Kremlin with billions and giving Moscow its favorite weapon of blackmail. SOCAR: A New Breath from the Caspian

When one pipeline fell silent, another voice rose. In July, SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s state energy giant, signed its first deal with Naftogaz to deliver gas to Ukraine. The route stretches from the Caspian through Bulgaria and Romania — straight into our storages.

The volumes are still small. But their symbolism outweighs the cubic meters. It means Ukraine’s gas system is no longer hostage to Moscow, but a gateway to new opportunities.

Why Russia Targets SOCAR

Moscow felt this shift. And responded the only way it knows — with explosions. In August, Russian drones struck a SOCAR oil depot in Odesa region. Days later, they struck again. It wasn’t about military logic; it was about energy revenge.

Russia isn’t afraid of a few tanks of oil. It fears the idea. The idea that Ukraine can live without it, that pipelines can carry gas without Gazprom. What terrifies the Kremlin is that the world now sees: the empire has lost its monopoly.

Gas Is No Longer a Weapon

Europe has also chosen its path. It learned to live without Russian gas: LNG tankers, deals with Norway and Azerbaijan, new supply routes. The Kremlin’s gas is no longer Europe’s “lifeblood.” It’s just a commodity tainted with blackmail, a bad habit the continent is finally quitting.

Ukraine’s Truth

Yes, it’s hard. Yes, we lost a billion dollars a year. But what matters more: those dollars, or the fact that our children will never again hear the phrase “gas blackmail”?

Ukraine has entered a new era. We are no longer just a transit land for someone else’s resource. We are becoming masters of our own energy destiny.

When future generations ask: “When did Ukraine finally break free from Russia’s gas trap?” the answer will be clear: at the start of 2025. That was when the pipeline fell silent, but the heart of the country filled with new air.

Russia can keep striking with drones, trying to intimidate and destroy. But it has already lost the most important battle. It has lost its monopoly over our oxygen. And it will never get it back.
