Що таке насправді полк АЗОВ? (для іноземних журналістів)

International journalists often encounter false information about the fighters of the AZOV regiment, who right now are among the main defenders of Mariupol. The Russians see this Ukrainian unit as a very big threat to themselves, so they have created many fakes about them and spread these lies in various languages on the Internet.

In order to objectively understand the essence of what the AZOV regiment is now, we directly contacted representatives of this unit.

Today, the AZOV regiment is an integral part of the National Guard of Ukraine and is subordinate to the President of Ukraine as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The AZOV Regiment has considerable combat potential, and the level of training is not inferior to the best NATO units. Even their enemies confirm this. Russian troops have not been able to capture the city of Mariupol for more than a month because they are opposed by the AZOV regiment.

As an official component of the Armed Forces, the AZOV regiment has no official ideology, but many fighters identify themselves as Ukrainian nationalists, that is patriots of their native country. Ukrainian soldiers on their own land defend their own people from the genocide unleashed by Putin – this is their main goal.

Russian propaganda is trying to smear the fighters of the AZOV regiment, calling them "neo-Nazis," "racists," and "xenophobes." This is a complete lie. Among the fighters of the AZOV regiment are representatives of different nationalities and religions, united only by one thing: the desire to defend Ukraine as their own mother.

The AZOV regiment uses the "Idea of a Nation" sign on its flags and chevrons. This is a symbol known in Ukraine since the early Middle Ages. Archaeologists also record its use in the heraldry of the Ukrainian national elite in the 1600s. Russia unreasonably identifies the symbolism of the AZOV regiment with the so-called "Wolfsangel" rune, but there is no evidence for this fake assertion.

Today, the commander of the AZOV regiment is Denys Prokopenko. In different years, this unit was also commanded by Andriy Biletsky, Igor Mykhaylenko, and Maxym Zhorin. These days, all the former commanders are also fighting against Russia. They command the territorial defense in different cities, also known as the AZOV forces.

Today, the AZOV regiment is a symbol of the indestructibility of the Ukrainian army. The fighters of the AZOV regiment are the defenders of the Ukrainians from the genocide that has been unleashed by Russia under the leadership of Putin.

Міжнародні журналісти часто стикаються з неправдивою інформацією щодо бійців полку АЗОВ, які прямо зараз є одними з головних захисників Маріуполя. Росіяни вбачають в цьому українському підрозділі дуже велику загрозу для себе, тому створили багато фейків щодо них та розповсюджують цю брехню на різних мовах в Інтернеті.

З метою обʼєктивного розуміння сутності того, чим є зараз полк АЗОВ, ми напряму зв'язались з представниками цього підрозділу.

На сьогоднішній день полк АЗОВ є складовою частиною Національної Гвардії України та підпорядковується Президенту України як Верховному Головнокомандувачу. Полк АЗОВ має значний бойовий потенціал та за рівнем підготовки не поступається кращим підрозділам НАТО. Це підтверджують навіть їхні вороги - російські війська вже понад місяць не можуть захопити місто Маріуполь, бо їм протистоїть полк АЗОВ.

Як офіційна складова збройних сил полк АЗОВ не має офіційної ідеології, але багато бійців ідентифікують себе як українських націоналістів, тобто патріотів рідної країни. Українські солдати на своїй землі захищають власний народ від геноциду, який розв'язав Путін - це і є їхня головна мета.

Російська пропаганда намагається очорнити бійців полку АЗОВ, називаючи їх "неонацистами", "расистами" та "ксенофобами". Це - повна брехня. Серед бійців полку АЗОВ служать представники різних національностей та віросповідань, поєднані лише одним - бажанням захищати Україну як свою рідну мати.

Полк АЗОВ використовує на своїх прапорах та шевронах знак "Ідея Нації". Це символ, відомий в Україні ще з раннього Середньовіччя. Археологи фіксують його використання у тому числі в геральдиці української національної еліти в 1600-х роках. Росія безпідставно ототожнює символіку полку АЗОВ з так званою руною "Вольфсангель", проте ніяких доказів цьому фейковому твердженню не існує.

Командир полку АЗОВ сьогодні - Денис Прокопенко. В різні роки цим підрозділом також командували Андрій Білецький, Ігор Михайленко та Максим Жорін. Сьогодні всі колишні командири також воюють проти Росії. Вони командують територіальною обороною в різних містах, також відомою як сили АЗОВ.

Сьогодні полк АЗОВ є символом незламності української армії. Бійці полку АЗОВ - це захисники українців від геноциду, який сьогодні розв'язала Росія під керівництвом Путіна.
