Russian occupiers are conducting offensive actions in Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Lyman directions, - General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2023.
As Censor.NET informs, this was reported on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the evening summation, it is noted: "The three hundred and nineteenth day of the Russian large-scale invasion continues.
The enemy is conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Lyman directions, and is trying to improve the tactical position in the Kupiansk direction. He concentrates his efforts on capturing the Donetsk region within the administrative border, without success.
During the day, the occupiers launched one missile and 19 airstrikes. They carried out more than 10 attacks from rocket salvo systems, in particular, on civilian infrastructure.
There is a danger that the enemy will launch air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine. Be alert and do not ignore air raid signals.
- In the Volyn, Polissia, Siversk, and Slobozhansk areas, the situation remains stable: certain units of the Belarusian and Russian armed forces continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine, and no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected.
- At the same time, the enemy is shelling the positions of our troops and civilian objects along the entire contact line.
- In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, areas of Kucherivka settlements in the Sumy region, as well as Staritsa, Kolodiazne, and Novomlynsk in the Kharkiv region, were damaged by fire.
- In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy shelled the districts of Pershotravneve and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka and Myasozharivka in the Luhansk region.
- In the Lyman direction, Makiivka, Nevske, Kuzmyne, Chervonpopivka, and Dibrova of the Luhansk region came under fire from the occupiers.
- In the Bakhmut direction, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Rozdolivka, Bakhmut, Bila Hora, Diliivka, Druzhba, Zalizne, and New York in the Donetsk region were affected by the invaders' shelling.
- In the direction of Avdiivka, the enemy fired at Avdiivka, Nevelske, Mariinka, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region.
- In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy shelled the Dorozhnianka, Charivne, Mali Shcherbaky, and Kamianske areas of the Zaporizhzhia region with tanks and the entire spectrum of artillery.
- In the Kherson direction, the occupiers do not stop shelling settlements along the right bank of the Dnipro River. Kherson was once again hit by Russian rocket salvo systems.
In order to maintain military discipline and prevent the spread of panic among the personnel of the occupying forces operating in the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy deployed units of the Russian Guard. Thus, it became known that on January 5, near the settlement of Chistopillia, 6 people were shot dead who expressed the position of surrendering to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
In order to discredit the Ukrainian military leadership, the enemy is spreading disinformation about the preparation of fire damage by the Defense Forces to the medical facilities of the Luhansk region, where wounded Russian invaders are being treated.
During the current 24 hours, Ukrainian aviation made 10 strikes on enemy concentration areas, as well as 2 strikes on the positions of its anti-aircraft missile systems.
Also, our defenders shot down three enemy UAVs, probably of the "Orlan" type, and 3 helicopters: one Mi-24 and Ka-52 each, and the type of one more - to be determined.
In turn, units of missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit two areas of concentration of manpower and a warehouse of fuel and lubricant materials of the occupiers.
