The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released an update on the Russian invasion as of 18.00 on June 16, 2023.

The evening report reads: "The Russian Federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it has not abandoned its plans to fully occupy our territory.
The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets.
During the day, the Russian occupiers launched another missile attack on Kyiv region, using 6 X-47 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and 6 Kalibr cruise missiles. The air defense forces and means of the Air Force and the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed all 12 missiles.
In addition, during the day, the enemy carried out 24 air strikes and fired about 35 times from multiple launch rocket systems. Unfortunately, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure, civilians suffered. The likelihood of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.
The enemy continues to concentrate its main efforts in the Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinka directions - 21 combat engagements took place over the last day.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissya directions remained unchanged. No signs of formation of offensive groups were detected. Combat training and coordination of the Russian Armed Forces units before their deployment to the combat areas in Ukraine are ongoing at the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus.
On the Seversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. During the day, it carried out air strikes on the settlements of Mohrytsia in Sumy region and Budarky in Kharkiv region. It carried out mortar and artillery attacks on the settlements of Znob-Trubchevska, Chuykivka, Boyar-Lezhachi, Stari Vyrky, Basivka, Stepok, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy region, as well as Udy, Chervona Zorya, Hlyboke, Liptsi, Zelene, Ternova, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk sector, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Kyslivka in Kharkiv region and Novoselivske in Luhansk region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy launched an air strike near Spirne in Donetsk region. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, Serebryanka in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.
In the Bakhmut sector, the enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Bila Hora and New York in the Donetsk region. The areas of Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Khromove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Ozaryanivka, Bila Hora, Kostyantynivka, Pivdenne in the Donetsk region suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Stepove and Avdiivka. He conducted an air strike in the area of Avdiivka. He fired artillery at the areas of Avdiivka, Vesele and Karlivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka sector, our defenders repelled all enemy attacks near the town of Mariinka. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Mariinka and Pobeda in the Donetsk region. At the same time, he carried out artillery attacks in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Maksymilianivka, Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted offensive actions in the direction of Novomykhailivka and Vodyane in the Donetsk region, but was unsuccessful. He carried out air strikes in the areas of Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, Blahodatne. It shelled the settlements of Vuhledar, Vremivka, Storozheve, Novosilka, Novopil in Donetsk region.
The enemy continues to conduct defensive actions at the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson directions. It fired artillery at the localities of Olgivske, Poltavka, Gulyaypole, Zaliznychne, Gulyaypolske, Charivne, Bilohirya, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaki, Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region; Zmiivka, Beryslav, Kozatske, Inzhenerne, Zelenivka, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Dniprovske, Kizomys in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.
On the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, cases of forced abduction of pro-Ukrainians and the construction of new torture chambers for their detention are being recorded. In particular, one of these torture chambers was set up by Russian terrorists on the territory of a secondary school in the village of Velyki Kopani, Kherson region. Russian FSB units conduct interrogations in the school gym. The occupants are keeping the detainees in harsh, inhuman conditions and torturing them.
The aviation of the defense forces carried out 14 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel over the day. Also, our defenders destroyed 3 reconnaissance UAVs of operational and tactical level.
Missile and artillery units struck a command post, 3 areas of enemy concentration and 4 artillery units at firing positions, 2 electronic warfare stations and 2 other important enemy targets over the day."
