NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine, because if the Russian Federation wins, it will be a signal to other authoritarian regimes that anything can be done with the help of military force.

"We can give advice, but difficult decisions must be made by Ukrainian commanders, soldiers on the ground. You cannot sit here, in Brussels, at the headquarters of NATO or the EU, and tell them exactly how to fight. This is their task, they risk their lives, and we only support them," he stressed.
According to Stoltenberg, Russia has decided to control its neighbors, to divide spheres of interest, and says that the decision of a country to join NATO is a provocation.
"This is not a provocation, but the democratic, sovereign right of each state to choose its own path. There was Georgia in 2008, there was Crimea in 2014, and then a full-scale invasion in 2022.
