Five more cultural heritage sites of Ukraine receive enhanced protection from UNESCO

Another 5 Ukrainian sites, located in Odesa, Chernihiv, Lviv and Zakarpattia regions, have been added to the UNESCO International List of Cultural Property under Enhanced Protection.
This is stated on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, Censor.NET reports.
On December 14, the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Event of Armed Conflict approved a decision to add five more Ukrainian cultural heritage sites to the International List of Cultural Property under Temporary Enhanced Protection. Among them:
- wooden churches of the Carpathian region: the Church of the Archangel Michael (Uzhok, Zakarpattia);
- wooden churches of the Carpathian region (wooden church of St. George (Drohobych, Lviv region);
- the building of the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater;
- the building of the Odesa Regional Philharmonic named after David Oistrakh;
- Transfiguration Cathedral in Chernihiv.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Anastasiia Bondar noted that as a result of Russian attacks in Ukraine, more than 1,700 cultural infrastructure facilities and more than 870 cultural heritage sites have been damaged or destroyed.
