UN: 3,000 Civilians Killed in Donbas Since April

At least three thousand people have been killed in the eastern regions of Ukraine since mid-April.

Colombo Gazette published UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein's statement, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"We are still concerned about the situation in Ukraine. OHCHR last monthly report provides a complete picture of current problems in the field of human rights, especially in the east, where at least 3,000 civilians have been killed starting from this year mid-April," the Commissioner's report at the 27th session of the UN Human Rights Council says.

According to him, the parties to the conflict, the neighboring countries, including Russia, must do their best to protect the civilian population as well as to comply with international humanitarian law.

Jordan Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein was appointed UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in the summer of 2014.
