Escalation in Donbas: Russian militants committed 44 attacks, used mortars, tanks, IFVs, - ATO HQ

The Russian-backed militants fired upon the Ukrainian troops deployed in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone 44 times over the past 24-hour period.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the ATO headquarters press center as of March 25, 2018.

"In Donetsk section of the forefront, the invaders shelled the ATO forces’ defenses in Opytne, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne with 82-mm mortars and tank armament while the outskirts of Pisky were bombarded with 120-mm mortars banned by the Minsk agreements.

"82 mm mortars were also employed by the enemy against the defenders of Talakivka. The Ukrainian troops defending Avdiivka, Bohdanivka, Novotroitske, Vodiane, and Butivka mine were shelled with grenade launchers of various systems. The ATO forces deployed near Verkhniotoretske and Pavlopil were fired upon with large-caliber machine guns. The invaders attacked Ukrainian troops near Hnutove with armament of the infantry fighting vehicles and used small arms near Butivka mine, Kamianka, Marinka, and Krasnohorivka.

"Two attacks on the ATO forces were recorded in Luhansk direction: the Ukrainian soldiers deployed near Novhorodske were fired upon with grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms; defenders of Troitske came under fire of large-caliber machine guns.

Earlier, the Russian mercenaries fired upon the Ukrainian troops 13 times on March 24.
