Spanish police release Putin critic Browder previously detained under Russian warrant

The anti-corruption campaigner and well-known critic of President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Bill Browder was arrested in Madrid, Spain, under Russian warrant. He later tweeted that the police cut him loose.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Browder’s tweets, he was freed from custody after the Lyon-based Interpol general secretary had advised the police not to honour the Russian arrest warrant.

Good news. Spanish National Police just released me after Interpol General Secretary in Lyon advised them not to honor the new Russian Interpol Red Notice. This is the 6th time that Russia has abused Interpol in my case pic.twitter.com/ZonzXizvIJ
