Clear Sky-2018 drills: pilots practiced airstrikes, interception. PHOTOS
Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia regions continue hosting large-scale multinational air exercises Clear Sky-2018 with military pilots of Ukraine’s Air Forces and NATO countries including Belgium, UK, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and U.S. taking part in them.
"On the second day of the exercise, Su-24M bombers’ pilots simulated bombing of conventional targets on an airfield located in the Volyn [region]. The pilots of fighters practiced flight missions to intercept and escort airspace violators," spokesperson for local Defense Ministry press service, Andrii Ahieiev wrote on social media, Censor.NET reports.
More than ten U.S. aircraft including F-15C/D, C-130, KS-135, MQ-9 and several UAVs take part in the war games. Ukraine’s Air Forces are represented by MiG-29, Su-27, Su-24, An-26 planes and Vita air ambulance.
Starokostiantyniv airbase in the Khmelnytskyi region and Havryshivka airbase in the Vinnytsia region are used as the bases for the Clear Sky-2018 air exercises which kicked off on Oct. 8 and will last until Oct. 19.
