Vakarchuk not to run for president
Musician Sviatoslav Vakarchuk declares he will not run for president in the upcoming Ukraine presidential elections.
As reported by Censor.NET, he said this in a video on his Facebook page.
"As I have mentioned many times, I am not interested in power and presidential position as such. I am interested in real changes in the country. Therefore, I go on record to say: I will not run for president in 2019 Ukraine presidential elections," Vakarchuk declared.
"I am well aware that in my jeans I can do much more for the country than wearing a tie. And I am not planning to stand by. Every day, talking to people, I feel their disappointment and despondency. I see corruption and injustice corroding our country from the inside. I see opportunism and greed of officials making Ukraine weaker. It has to stop! It is our duty to change things. Together with my team I will work to ensure that the pro-European forces win. I will work to bring as many young professionals as possible to the government, those who put justice and public interest above anything else," said the musician.
