Turkish diplomat Chevik to head OSCE SMM in Ukraine. DOCUMENT

Turkish diplomat Yasar Halit Chevik will be the new head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced in a statement by the Deputy Spokesman for the US State Department Robert Palladino on Twitter

"The US welcomes the appointment of Ambassador Yasar Halit Cevik of Turkey as Chief Monitor of the OSCE’s Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM). We urge all OSCE participating States to reiterate support for the SMM," he said. 

The United States welcomes this appointment and demonstrates respect for the SMM Chairman Erturul Apakan, who is leaving the post.

Erturul Apakan has been the head of the OSCE SMM since April 2, 2014, and his term will expire soon.
