MP Kuprii proposes put Zelenskyi's inauguration for May 20

Independent Ukrainian MP Vitalii Kuprii has proposed that the Verkhovna Rada hold on May 20 a solemn parliamentary session devoted to Volodymyr Zelenskyi's inauguration as Ukraine's president.

Censor.NET reports citing Interfax.

According to draft resolution No. 10270-2, the lawmaker proposes holding a solemn session of the Verkhovna Rada on the inauguration of President-elect Volodymyr Zelenskyi at 10:00 on May 20, 2019.

Kuprii notes in the explanatory note to the draft resolution that Zelenskyi's inauguration on May 19 on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions would be inappropriate.

Therefore, the parliamentarian proposes holding the inauguration on May 20 or on any other date.

At the same time, Kuprii states that Zelenskyi should take office in the shortest possible time "in order to ensure state security, national interests, protect sovereignty, territorial integrity and defense of Ukraine, as well as to ensure the effective foreign policy of Ukraine."
