Verkhovna Rada to legitimate the procedure of president impeachment - MP Herashchenko
A group of Verkhovna Rada deputies is preparing a draft law on procedure of president's impeachment by the decision of Special Investigation Committee.
"People's Front" MP, Interior Minister Adviser Anton Herashchenko said to Censor.NET reporter in the lobby of the Parliament.
"This should be done," Herashchenko said.
He stressed that there must be a balance to the issue of the deputy immunity lifting.
"Today we lift the immunity, and we have no procedure of an impeachment to the president. It cannot be applied due to many reasons. Why did we have two Maidans? Because we didn't have an impeachment procedure. We will adopt an impeachment procedure to the benefits of Petro Poroshenko.
"It is clear that if the president abides by the law, there are no worries; if he doesn't, he is made liable. If a deputy does not comply with the law, we make him or her liable. Otherwise we'll have an imbalance," Herashchenko said.
