Poroshenko. Merkel, Hollande, and Putin arrived in Minsk
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko left for Minsk tonight to participate in the negotiations with leaders of France, Germany, and the Russian Federation in the "Normandy format."
This was stated by the president's press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
According to the agency, immediately upon arrival Poroshenko will head for the talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
No bilateral meetings of the Ukrainian president have been confirmed yet.
From Minsk the Ukrainian president will fly to Brussels, where an EU summit on the situation in Ukraine will be held on Feb. 12.
According to Ukrinform, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Minsk to participate in the "Normandy format" negotiations. The planes of the European leaders landed at the Minsk National Airport.
Later, Belarusian news agency Belta reported Poroshenko's arrival in Minsk.
"President of Ukraine Poroshenko arrived in Minsk to participate in the "Normandy format" negotiations. His plane landed at the Minsk National Airport," the agency reported.
Earlier, it was reported that the Kremlin confirmed participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in today's negotiations on the Donbas.
At 6:00 p.m. Kyiv time it was also reported, that the aircraft of Russian President Vladimir Putin landed at the international airport in Minsk.
