Heroes of Heavenly Hundred commemorated on Maidan
Local residents and out of town guests are gathering at the Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) to participate in activities commemorating the heroes of Heavenly Hundred.
The people are standing at the Maidan on both sides of Khreshchatyk street. The main street of the capital has been closed to traffic since 6 p.m., Censor.NET reports citign Interfax-Ukraine.
The territory of the Maidan around the Independence monument is surrounded by a metal fence where people are allowed after going through a metal detector. Inside there is a platform for the relatives of fallen heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, honored guests and the press.
In addition, there are four large screens alternately displaying pictures of those who died at the Independence Square during the Revolution of Dignity. As of 6:25 p.m. people continue to arrive. According to the agency, there about 2,000 people on the Maidan. They are holding flags of Ukraine and other national symbols.
