One of the drone strikes launched on Russian airfields was coordinated by Ukrainian special forces.
This is reported by the New York Times, Censor.NET reports.
The publication refers to the data of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and a high-ranking Ukrainian official, who wished to remain anonymous.
According to the NYT, the drones were launched from the territory of Ukraine. One of the strikes was coordinated by special forces who were near the base and helped guide the drone to the target.
"The strikes signaled Kyiv's new readiness to fight with bases in Russia's rear, raising the stakes in the war, and for the first time demonstrated Ukraine's ability to attack at such a long distance," the publication notes.
At the same time, the NYT writes, the Ukrainian government refused to take responsibility for the explosions at Russian airfields.
