U.S. must act quickly and decisively to help Ukraine win - Sullivan

National Security Advisor to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan expressed conviction that the United States, as well as allied and partner countries, should provide Ukraine with support in an accelerated pace to achieve victory.
He stated this in a conversation with journalists on Monday, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"The question is, should we move quickly and decisively to support Ukraine with the tools to win this war? And (former) Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and (former) Secretary of Defense Robert Gates answered that question - yes. Well, we also answer that question - yes," said the adviser to President Biden.
This is how Sullivan commented on an article by Rice-Gates for The Washington Post, published on Saturday. Its authors stressed that Ukraine's military potential and economy are now almost entirely dependent on rescue supplies from the West. In addition, they stressed that in the absence of a "major breakthrough" of Ukraine and successes on the battlefield, the pressure of the West on Kyiv to negotiate with the Russians will increase. And any truce will give Russian troops the opportunity to regain strength to resume the offensive. And this is unacceptable.
"The only way to avoid such a scenario is to urgently provide Ukraine and its allies with a dramatic increase in military supplies and capabilities sufficient to deter a new Russian offensive and enable Ukraine to repel Russian forces in the east and south," Rice and Gates stressed in their publication.
In this regard, Sullivan noted that the announcement by the White House of the latest package of assistance to Ukraine for more than $ 3 billion shows that the U.S. administration is committed to this not in words but in deeds.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that "the vast majority" of members of the U.S. Congress, as well as the vast majority of Americans, "continue to strongly support the policy of providing Ukraine with the means to defend itself against Russian aggression".
