Our goal is to gather tank brigade from "Leopards", - Kuleba
Ukraine wants to assemble a brigade armed with Leopard tanks. Already five countries are ready to transfer these tanks to the Armed Forces.
This was stated by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
"Our goal is to assemble a tank brigade from the Leopards. That's a start. Why Leopard? Because it is a tank that has been manufactured in Europe for decades and is used in many European armies. Therefore, you can take a little there, a little here, there are various modifications. But we set for ourselves ambitious tasks, and our ambitious task is to assemble a brigade within the tank coalition," Kuleba explained.
The Minister added that they are waiting for the final decision on the supply of tanks from Germany.
"I know at least 3 more countries (except Poland and Finland - ed.) that are ready to do this, but they are not talking yet, because they are waiting for Germany's support. Therefore, we already have 5 countries that are ready to transfer, but are waiting for the final resolution of issues with Germany," Kuleba stressed.
The Minister also noted that given all the information and logic of the process, which has gained momentum, Germany will agree to the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Whether it will be a direct transfer from Germany or permission to other countries is a matter for Germany, but Ukraine will receive these tanks.
