Russia is preparing for a serious escalation of the war against Ukraine, which could happen in the coming weeks.
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said this in an interview with Sky News, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
"Russia is preparing for maximum escalation. It is gathering everything possible, conducting exercises and training," Danilov emphasized.
He also did not rule out that the Russians could launch an offensive against Ukraine from the south, east, and north, as they did on February 24, 2022. It is possible that Russia will deliberately timing its assault to coincide with the anniversary of the start of a full-scale war.
"We understand that everything is on the table... I can say that we do not rule out any scenario in the next two or three weeks," Danilov said. According to him, the Ukrainian military is now preparing for all possible scenarios and this time they have much more support from their partners than 12 months ago.
The NSDC Secretary also added that about half of the more than 320,000 soldiers mobilized in Russia will take part in the new large-scale offensive.
"We have gone through a very difficult period, but I am sure that the main battles are still ahead, and they will take place this year within two or three months. These will be decisive months in the war," Danilov said.
