Shelling of village of Yeline in Chernihiv region: number of victims has increased to 4, investigation has begun

An investigation has been launched into the death of four residents of a border village in Chernihiv region as a result of enemy shelling. Under the procedural leadership of the Koryukiv district prosecutor’s office of the Chernihiv region, a pre-trial investigation was started in criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.

According to the investigation, on February 1, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:10 p.m., the Russian army shelled the village of Yeline Snovska, of the Koryukiv district.

"As a result of the shelling, four local residents who were hiding from the enemy shelling in the basement of a residential building died. One person was injured and taken to the hospital. The cause of death of the victims was shrapnel wounds," the report said.

According to preliminary data, mortar shelling was carried out from the border territory of the Russian Federation.

At present, in the criminal proceedings, primary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out.
