In Bakhmut, Ukrainian defenders achieved strategic success, - British General Shirreff

The Ukrainian military forced the Russians to lay down many of their soldiers and send a huge amount of equipment to be destroyed in the direction of Bakhmut. This can be called a strategic success.

This opinion was expressed by the Deputy Supreme Commander of NATO's forces in Europe (2011-2014), British General Richard Shirreff, Censor.NET reports with reference to TSN.

"At the moment, the Ukrainians have probably achieved a strategic success, forcing the Russians to spend a huge amount of manpower and equipment, which may become, if they take it, a Pyrrhic victory (a victory that comes at too high a price. - Ed.)," he said British general.

If the Russians had what they needed a few months ago, he said, "we probably wouldn't be where we are now."

"So it is necessary to speed up supply, integration, logistical support, training and everything else that needs to be done to provide Ukrainians with the tools they need for work," Shirreff emphasized.
