The first moments of the Russian invasion were withstood by career military and reservists with combat experience. Now, more and more people are being mobilized into the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and they need to be trained.

This was announced by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in an interview with Delfi, іnforms Censor.NЕТ.

"With the beginning of the invasion, after the introduction of martial law, mobilization was announced. The General Staff of the Army, of course, approved the mobilization plan. Given the current situation, this plan, which was adopted for implementation in February last year, has certainly not been completed, let alone exceeded. We have not yet fully implemented it. We do not need to announce a new mobilization.

So, the General Staff continues to cope with the compensation for the losses we unfortunately incur at a calm, gradual pace, and we certainly do not feel a shortage of manpower," Reznikov said.

The minister emphasized that the mobilized need to be armed and trained: "This manpower needs to be armed. And, of course, we want to arm them with modern weapons. Education and training of people is equally important."

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, at the beginning of the war, the regular army took the main, biggest blow and withstood it. People who had already served in the army and had relevant experience. They were joined by veterans of the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, those who had served and fought since 2014. Thus, the first waves of the invasion were resisted primarily by those who had already served and fought. But now, Ukraine's defense forces are being manned by people who need to be trained first.
