German general called on authorities to hand over F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine

Retired German general Erhard Bhler claims that Ukraine needs not only air defense equipment, but also Western fighter jets.

As Censor.NET informs, "Euro Integration" writes about this with reference to Bild.

The former commander of NATO forces in Kosovo blames the German government for the unsatisfactory situation with the equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, in the fight against the Russian invaders, they lacked ammunition and armored vehicles, battle tanks and armored personnel carriers - including because "the federal government made a decision very late."

"He did not allow to prepare options for actions, also multinational ones, so that you sit down and discuss them: What if we have to send tanks in the shortest possible time? That is why there is not enough equipment now," Bühler said of the actions of the German government.

Buhler calls for a much faster provision of Western military aid to Ukraine - in particular, combat aircraft.

"Ukraine needs more ammunition for air defense, as well as combat planes," he said, referring not to German planes, but to American F-16s, of which there are many in the world. There are also enough spare parts for them on the market.

The F-16, he said, is "just an example." In general, according to Buhler, "it is about the Ukrainians being able to independently ensure the security of their country in the long term."
