The best security guarantee for Ukraine will be NATO membership.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Censor.NET informs with reference to "Interfax-Ukraine".

However, according to Zelensky, as long as there is a war in Ukraine and as long as it is not in the Alliance, it needs security guarantees today.

"We have always supported Finland to be a member of the Alliance. We congratulate you on this. Therefore, when I am asked - what security guarantees Ukraine needs - I will answer: the same. This is the best security guarantee for Ukraine. You know what we are talking about this is a large number of years. We spoke and wanted, and showed with our actions. And in the Constitution of our state, this is the geopolitical direction that our people chose. Therefore, the best and most powerful guarantee is membership in NATO," Zelensky said at a press conference with Finland's leader Saulia Nothing in Helsinki.

The President emphasized that Ukraine clearly understands that as long as the war continues, there are no prospects for membership in the Alliance. At the same time, according to Zelensky, Ukrainians would like, in addition to the announced open-door policy, partners to take counter-powerful steps and support Ukraine already today.

"As long as the war lasts. We will not be in NATO. We clearly understand that. But we would like that, in addition to the open door, our partners would also take powerful steps to meet us, which would motivate Ukrainian society - that this is not only an open door and not only something such in the future. We would like support today. And today, as political support, we would like an invitation for Ukraine (to the Alliance. - Ed.)," he said.

"And on this path, as long as we have a war, we need today's security guarantees - while we are not yet in NATO. But in any case, our goal is to have full membership in the Alliance. This is one of the reasons why I am here today ", Zelensky summarized.
