"Since the beginning of the war, 101,543 facts regarding the disappearance of missing citizens have been registered. Subsequently, this information was entered into a single record maintained by the National Police, and then priority verification actions were carried out. 54,310 people were searched. The rest of the unaccounted for are 23,760 people who disappeared - and this has been verified - under special circumstances," he said.

Data on persons missing under special circumstances have been entered into the Unified Register of Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, which has become operational at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Relatives of persons who have disappeared under special circumstances can already apply for an extract from the Register.

Information about such persons was sent to the National Police, it was checked and subsequently verified by representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances. After that, the information is entered into the Register," Tymchenko emphasized.

It is noted that armed conflict, hostilities, temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine, as well as natural or man-made emergencies are considered special circumstances.
