In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops managed to advance up to 1,400 metres in different areas over the last day.

Colonel Serhii Cherevaty, spokesman for the Ukrainian Defence Forces in the Eastern Direction, said this on the air of the United News telethon, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"We managed to advance up to 1,400 metres in different areas over the last day," he said.

The spokesman stressed that the Ukrainian military strike at the enemy and counterattack, taking advantage of the fact that the Russians were conducting rotational exercises and changing their units.

At the same time, he noted that the troops of the aggressor country are trying to attack Ukrainian units: they carried out 8 air strikes and fired 330 times with multiple rocket launchers.

"In total, there were six firefights, during which our Defence Forces killed 138 occupants, 236 were wounded and one was taken prisoner. We also destroyed a self-propelled artillery system "Gvozdika", 3 armoured vehicles, a D-30 howitzer, a S-60 anti-aircraft gun, a ZALA unmanned aerial vehicle, 8 ammunition depots and 7 vehicles that transported ammunition and weapons," emphasised Cherevaty.

In addition, the colonel said that the enemy is trying to build up its defence and there were attempts to counterattack Ukrainian positions, but, according to him, all these attempts failed.

"Our main goal remains unchanged: to inflict maximum damage to the enemy, maximum losses to the enemy, and all means are being used to achieve this," assured the spokesman for the Ukrainian Defence Forces in the Eastern sector.

In this context, Cherevaty stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already taken a number of heights, which is also one of the main goals, namely to take up more favourable positions to "hit the enemy even harder".
