Russians could kidnap 200-300 thousand Ukrainian children, - Herasimchuk

To date, there is accurate information on only 19,499 such children.
This was reported by Daria Herasimchuk, an adviser to the President of Ukraine on child rights and child rehabilitation, Censor.NET reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
"According to our calculations, it may be about 200-300 thousand children that they could abduct. Why can't we name the exact figure? First of all, the territories are occupied. There is no exact information about what happened to the children. Only after the de-occupation of a settlement, we can have accurate information - whether there is a family with this or that child. If not, we start looking," she said.
According to Herasimchuk, "Even though we are talking about 200-300 thousand deported and forcibly removed children, we currently have accurate information on only 19,499 such children."
She noted that this information is available in the National Information Bureau - a body that receives statements from parents, relatives, witnesses, local authorities on the fact of deportation and forced relocation of a child.
"We are looking for a child, and after the verification of this information passes through the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General's Office, after a detailed check, the information enters the register of the National Information Bureau.
Thus, as regards 19,499 children, there is personal data on each of them, we understand who these children are and where they were abducted from. However, this does not mean that we know where this child is," she concluded.
