In week, 17 sq.km were freed in South, there is progress in East. Enemy’s casualties are 8 times more than ours - Ministry of Defense
At the end of last week, our troops launched counter-offensives in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Bohdanivka, Yahidne, Klishchiyivka, and Kurdiumivka.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defence Hanna Maliar on her Telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.
According to her, over the past week:
In the east, the Ukrainian Defence Forces conducted both defensive and offensive operations throughout the week and achieved tactical success.
"The enemy was attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka directions. Heavy fighting is still going on there. About 250 combat engagements took place in these areas last week. The enemy tried to force our troops out of their positions but failed.
The enemy made 6,457 attacks in the east over the past week and launched 3,506 rounds of ammunition. The number of attacks increased compared to the previous week," the official said.
At the same time, our troops in the east launched counter-offensives in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Bohdanivka, Yahidne, Klishchiivka, and Kurdiumivka late last week. In each direction, the advance is between 1 and 2 km. The troops are now consolidating their positions and continuing to destroy the enemy.
Malyar also informs that the situation in the south has not changed significantly over the past week.
Ukrainian defence forces continued to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.
"The area of liberated territories increased by 17 square kilometres over the past week as a result of the improved operational (tactical) situation and levelling of the front line. In total, since the start of the offensive, the area liberated in the south is 130 square kilometres," she said.
In the Tavria direction, the enemy attacked our positions 148 times last week.
Over the past week, 3,861 attacks were recorded in the Tavriya sector. If we add up the number of hostile attacks in the east and south, we will get more than 10,000 attacks per week. This is virtually around the clock and every minute.
Missile troops and artillery units of the Tauride defence forces completed 8783 firing missions during the week
Malyar also noted that the Russian occupation forces are putting up strong resistance while suffering significant losses in personnel, weapons and equipment.
"The enemy's death toll over the past week is 8 times higher than ours," she added.
Our aviation, missile forces and artillery over the past week:
- conducted more than 110 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel,
- destroyed 17 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems,
- destroyed 11 command and control points, which significantly reduced the enemy's ability to hit our aircraft and armoured vehicles,
- and destroyed 7 enemy ammunition depots.
"In addition, hundreds of pieces of enemy equipment were destroyed, including tanks, helicopters, and artillery systems.
For example, 2 enemy Ka-52 and 1 Mi-24 helicopters, as well as 48 of 51 Iranian "Shahed-131/136" strike UAVs," the official summarises.
