With Russia now weakened by the war against Ukraine, the Alliance has time to take care of increasing collective security until Moscow regains its strength.
This was stated by the head of the NATO Military Committee, Rob Bauer, Censor.NET reports with reference to European Pravda.
He called the expected approval of regional defense plans a positive development, however, according to him, their implementation will take time, and it is important to start the day after the summit, when there will be a decision.
"Getting more soldiers, building infrastructure, logistics in Europe is still a challenge. It's going to be difficult because it's not an instant switch, it's a long process," Bauer said.
"But there is some good news because the Russians are not as strong as at the beginning of the war against Ukraine. Therefore, we have some time," he added.
