Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan was disqualified for refusing to greet Russian Anna Smirnova after the fight.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Suspilne Sport.

It is noted that Harlan was nevertheless disqualified for refusing to greet the Russian after the fight. The Ukrainian team tried to appeal the decision of the tournament organisers, but failed.

After the fight, Harlan refused to shake hands with Russian Smirnova, offering to "knock" with weapons. Having received no response from the Russian, the Ukrainian fencer left the track.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian fencer Harlan defeated a Russian woman at the 2023 World Cup and refused to shake her hand.
