Putin fuels coups in Africa, - Borrell
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is fueling coups d’état in African countries with his false propaganda.
This was stated by the EU's chief diplomat, Josep Borrell, Censor.NET reports with reference to the EP.
He denied accusations of EU interference in the coup in Niger.
"The only intervention we can talk about today is the military overthrow of the elected president and the intervention of imperialist Russia, which wants to use African regimes as pawns in its global chess game," Borrell explained.
According to him, "Putin fuels these coups with his false propaganda and profits from the establishment of military regimes with the help of private paramilitary groups that plunder the region's wealth."
"The path of military dictatorship and international isolation can only be a dead end for the countries of the region, both from the point of view of their security and from the point of view of their urgent economic and social development," the European diplomat emphasized.
Borrell pointed out that "the grandiose economic promises of Russia have never been fulfilled, and the facts speak for themselves when it comes to security: in Mali, with the arrival of the Wagner group, the number of terrorist attacks and atrocities against the population has increased many times."
"The time has come to stop this dangerous drift for the peoples of the Sahel and neighboring countries," Borrell concluded.
