Russia has started naval exercises in Baltic Sea

On August 2, the Russian naval exercises "Ocean Shield - 2023" began in the waters of the Baltic Sea. More than 30 warships and boats and 20 naval aviation aircraft were involved for this purpose.

"From August 2, under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Mykola Yevmenov, the "Ocean Shield-2023" naval exercise is being held in the Baltic Sea, the message says.

According to the Ministry of Defense, more than 30 warships and boats, 20 support vessels, 30 aircraft of the Russian naval aviation and aerospace forces, and about 6,000 servicemen are involved in the exercise.

It is noted that during the training "in an operationally important area" the "coherence of the work of the headquarters of different levels in the management of forces (troops)" will be checked, the measures for the protection of sea communications, the transportation of troops and military cargo, as well as for the defense of the sea coast will be tested. In total, it is planned to perform more than 200 combat exercises, including with the practical use of weapons.

"After the training, the ships will make inter-fleet transitions to the points of permanent basing, and the aviation will return to their airfields," added the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
