We must prepare for long war in Ukraine, - Stoltenberg

The war in Ukraine may drag on. If Ukrainians lay down their arms, their country will no longer exist.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in an interview with the German media group Funke, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
"Most wars last longer than expected when they first start. Therefore, we must prepare for a long war in Ukraine," he said.
Stoltenberg stressed that everyone would like a quick peace. But, in his opinion, if Ukrainians stop fighting, they will lose to Russia.
"But at the same time, we must recognize that if President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainians stop fighting, their country will no longer exist... If President Putin and Russia lay down their arms, we will have peace," the NATO Secretary General added.
He also expressed confidence that Ukraine will join the alliance one day.
"There is no doubt that Ukraine will eventually be in NATO," Stoltenberg said.
