Russia plans to continue using loyal Wagnerians - UK intelligence

The Kremlin plans to continue cooperation with loyal representatives of the Wagner PMC after its leadership allegedly died in a plane crash.

This is stated in the British Ministry of Defence's intelligence review of the war of 30 September, Censor.NET reports citing European Pravda.

The intelligence service noted that on 29 September, Russia published a video of President Putin meeting with Andrei Trochev, a former representative of the Wagner Group leadership, and instructing him to create "new volunteer units". The meeting was also attended by Deputy Defence Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

At the time of the mutiny by the group's leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, Troshev appears to have encouraged Wagnerites to sign contracts. Intelligence suggests that he is now considered a traitor by many among the Wagnerians.

Meanwhile, Yevkurov appears to have travelled to Africa.

"The president's support for Troshev and Yevkurov indicates that Russia will continue to use volunteer units and private military companies, and is planning the future for the Wagner group. Russia is preparing to rely on the experience of veterans who have proven their loyalty and will continue to have a presence in the Global South, but likely with greater Kremlin oversight," the intelligence suggests.
