Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed the protocol on Sweden’s accession to NATO, after which the document was submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (Parliament) for consideration.

According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was reported by the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidential Administration.

"The protocol on Sweden's accession to NATO was signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 23 October 2023 and submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey," the directorate said.

As reported earlier, Erdogan said that the Turkish parliament's approval of Sweden's accession to NATO depends on Sweden's compliance with its promises and has no exact deadlines.

On 14 October, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Turkey did not put forward any requirements for his country to ensure the ratification of its application for NATO membership.
