European Commission has granted Ukraine €1.5 billion in macro-financial assistance

The European Commission has announced a €1.5 billion macro-financial assistance package for Ukraine, which is worth up to €18 billion by 2023.
This is stated in a statement by the European Commission, cited by Interfax-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
"The EU's support for Ukraine is unwavering. We have disbursed another 1.5 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine. This new disbursement brings our total assistance to Ukraine to almost 83 billion. In addition, the European Commission has proposed up to 50 billion for the following years - until 2027," the communiqué quotes European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as saying.
It is reported that Ukraine has received a total of 15 billion euros this year, which will be used to cover its "urgent financing needs through stable, predictable and significant financial support".
This support, Brussels explains, will help Ukraine to continue paying salaries and pensions and to ensure the functioning of essential public services such as hospitals, schools, and housing for IDPs, and will allow it to maintain macroeconomic stability and rebuild critical infrastructure, including energy, water, transport networks, roads and bridges.
The latest disbursement, according to the European Commission, was made after the EC stated on 18 October that "Ukraine continues to make satisfactory progress in fulfilling the agreed conditions and complies with the reporting requirements aimed at ensuring the transparent and efficient use of funds".
