To storm Ukrainian positions in all directions, the Russian occupiers continued to use the Storm Z and Storm V units, which were formed from prisoners and military convicts.
This was reported by the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky, on Telegram, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, the enemy continues offensive actions in the Kupiansk sector.
"They are trying to reach the village of Sinkivka, Kharkiv region, to continue their attack on the city of Kupyansk. Our defenders are repelling all attempts in this area," the statement said.
He also noted that in the Liman sector, the enemy is gathering reserves and regrouping to prepare for further attacks.
"Heavy fighting continues near Bakhmut. The occupants continue their attacks. The enemy is trying to drive Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Klishchyivka. The defense forces are holding the line and inflicting heavy losses on Russian troops, both in equipment and manpower," noted Syrskyi.
According to him, since the beginning of the month, the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping of troops has eliminated more than six and a half thousand Russian occupants, and destroyed or damaged about eight hundred pieces of occupiers' military equipment. Among them are 79 tanks, 136 armored vehicles, and 170 different types of enemy artillery.
