We are now between second and third line of defense of Russians, - Minister of Defense Umerov
The defenders of Ukraine have already passed two lines of defense of the Russians and are now in front of the third.
This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov in his interview for FoxNews, Censor.NET informs.
Umerov said that in general, the Russians have three lines of defense at the front.
"We de-occupied 50% of our territory, we defeat Russia in our land, returned the territory, liberated it. And now we have a plan for 2024," he said.
The minister outlined that Ukraine considers it a strategic victory to reach the internationally recognized borders of 1991, including Crimea, Donbass and the Black Sea.
The host asked Umerov if a settlement is possible if the war lasts for years. The minister replied that the entire civilized world should be ashamed if it cannot protect itself from an authoritarian regime: "This will continue and destroy democracy. They (Russia. - Ed.) believe that Ukraine and Ukrainians should not exist.
The minister also stressed that it is in the interests of Americans that such an authoritarian regime does not exist, so you do not need to show your weakness.
He stressed that Ukraine wants to be part of NATO and "speak the same language with it." Therefore, all calculations for the next year, procurement and planning of operations will take place in accordance with NATO standards, "so that there will not be any difference between us".
On the accusations of corruption scandals in the Ministry of Defense, Umerov noted that tenders, competitions, inspections, various types of audits are now being held. In addition, the Ministry is ready to invite external auditors for cross-examination.
He also assured that by his 100 days in office "everything will be in place."
