Criminal proceedings have been initiated over the explosion of grenades in a village council in Zakarpattia on the grounds of terrorism and illegal handling of ammunition.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the investigation, on December 15, 2023, at about 12:00 p.m., the village council was discussing the adoption of the budget for 2024. During the meeting, one of the deputies entered the hall and detonated three grenades.
The incident was classified as a terrorist act and illegal handling of ammunition (Part 2 of Article 258, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"Currently, we know about 26 victims. All of them were hospitalized with injuries of various severities, seven of them in serious condition. The bomber is also in the intensive care unit of the medical institution," the Prosecutor General's Office added.
Earlier, a deputy detonated grenades in the building of the Keretsky village council in Zakarpattia. 26 people were injured.
