State Department on Zelenskyy’s words regarding aid to Ukraine: This is question for US Congress

Currently, the executive branch of the USA fully supports Ukraine, however, the decision to allocate funds for aid must be made by the US Congress.

This was stated by the spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

The spokesman commented on the words of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who expressed confidence in the support of Ukraine from the US.

"We (the executive branch) absolutely support Ukraine. We are absolutely ready to support additional funding for Ukraine. We have one package left that we can provide to Ukraine this year, and after that, we will exhaust our options for additional security assistance, so I think that is a matter for the US Congress," he said.

Miller emphasized that Congress should decide on Ukraine by the end of the year, as a difficult winter period is ahead.

"We want it (the US president's request. - Ed.) to be approved by the end of this year. This remains our goal and our priority. Congress will have to decide whether they are going to support Ukraine and provide the funding necessary to counter the Russian invasion as we enter what we expect to be a very difficult winter, or whether they do not plan to do so," the spokesman said.

According to Miller, the administration of President Joe Biden has no alternative plan to provide aid to Ukraine. He stressed that funding sources will run out in the next few weeks, so "we need Congress to act."
