In 2024, focus will be on purchases of Ukrainian weapons, - Umierov

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has changed its approach to planning the supply of weapons and logistics equipment for the military. The priorities for 2024 are to increase Ukrainian production of the necessary equipment.
Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umierov wrote about this in a column for Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.
"We focused on purchasing Ukrainian weapons. We have ordered ammunition of the main calibers produced in Ukraine. We will continue to increase the volume of such purchases. We have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the US Department of Defense on joint production and exchange of technical data. This will help Ukraine establish production capabilities for critical ammunition. In addition to additional jobs and taxes to the budget, this means strengthening our defense capabilities and protecting our independence," Umierov wrote.
Another priority for 2024 is to increase Ukrainian production of the necessary equipment for the military.
"From now on, innovations can be approved for use on the battlefield in 20 days, not months, as it was before. As a result, we have already adopted and put into service 118 samples of new equipment (24 of them are UAVs, including FPV, 13 are electronic warfare systems)," he added.
According to him, the Ministry of Defense has also begun to solve the problem of procuring drones, off-road vehicles, electronic warfare, and ammunition. The need for other categories, such as tactical headphones or women's uniforms, is gradually being met.
