There are very few battle-worthy Leopard 2A6 tanks left in Ukraine, - Bundestag deputy Schäfer
Of the Leopard 2A6 tanks that Germany has given to Ukraine, only a few are currently fit for use in combat.
According to Censor.NET, with reference to Der Spiegel, Bundestag deputy from the Green Party Sebastian Schäfer wrote about this in a letter to Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann.
He calls on Berlin to take quicker steps to get the tanks back in working order.
"Schäfer visited a workshop in Lithuania with Defense Minister Boris Pistorius before Christmas. There is an "urgent need for action" to quickly improve the situation with spare parts, according to his letters, which are available to the German Press Agency. In addition, attempts to repair the Ukrainian army's tanks have led to further damage. It should be examined to what extent this could have been prevented by better training of mechanics or the provision of instructions, or whether repairs could have been carried out in Ukraine," Der Spiegel writes.
