Senate negotiators continue to work on finalizing a national security agreement.

"At a time of growing crisis around the world, our supplemental package is America's response to this crucial moment in world history. The world is at a crossroads: the war taking place in Ukraine is not only between one nation defending itself against another, but also between tyranny and democracy itself," said the leader of the majority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer.
He added that the war in Ukraine is a history-changing conflict. It can restore the balance of power of Western democracies that has been maintained since the end of the Cold War.
The Democratic leader urged senators to continue to act quickly because Ukraine is at a dangerous moment in its war against Russia.
He emphasized that if the Senate does not approve an increase in aid to Ukraine, the war, which is already moving in Russia's direction, could change dramatically in favor of Russia in a month. According to him, the advantage is now on Russia's side because of the lack of weapons.
"Ukrainian soldiers remain determined and have not lost their resolve to defend their homeland. But they are losing ammunition and weapons that America has played a leading role in providing. As I quoted yesterday, a Ukrainian officer said that for every five rounds fired by the Russians at his troops, he could only fire one round in response," Schumer said.
As a reminder, Republican Senator Lankford said that the issue of aid to Ukraine could progress this week.
