Alliance is ready for possible Russian attack – NATO Military Committee

The North Atlantic Alliance is ready for a possible attack by Russia.
This was stated by the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Rob Bauer and Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli at a joint press conference, Censor.NET reports with reference to DW.
"We are a defense alliance, so we have to be ready, and we are. At the same time, we are improving to be even more ready: with more personnel with better skills in certain areas," Bauer said.
He reminded that the Alliance's strategy and plans describe two threats - Russia and terrorist groups. "The plans we have developed and approved in Vilnius are aimed at countering the threat from Russia," said the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
For his part, Cavoli simply said: "Yes, we are ready". At the same time, he announced NATO's largest exercise in decades, which will simulate a conflict with a "virtually peer enemy." According to the dpa news agency, the maneuver scenario envisages a Russian attack on the territory of the allies, which would trigger Article 5 of the NATO treaty on collective defense.
According to Bauer, this scale of the exercise - involving about 90,000 troops - is a demonstration of NATO's new readiness. "This is a record number of troops that we can deploy and conduct exercises on this scale across the Alliance," he said.
