Hrynkevych’s case: court gives authorization to detain fifth suspect

The court has given authorization for the detention of the fifth suspect in the Hrynkevych case of supplying low-quality clothing to the Armed Forces. According to media reports, it is the son of Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynkevych, Roman.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

On January 19, 2024, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv granted the request of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office to grant permission to detain a suspect in criminal proceedings regarding the supply of low-quality clothing to the Armed Forces.

According to the court's decision, the pre-trial investigation body was granted permission to detain the person in question in order to bring him to participate in the consideration of the motion to apply a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The suspect is one of the defendants in a criminal proceeding regarding the supply of low-quality clothing for the Armed Forces worth almost UAH 1 billion.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, 5 people were served a notice of suspicion. They are charged with creating and participating in a criminal organization, as well as fraud committed under martial law on a particularly large scale (Art. 255(1), (2), Art. 190(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The other four members of the criminal organization are in custody.

According to media reports, the court authorized the detention of the son of Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynkevych, Roman.

Earlier it was reported that the construction companies of Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynkevych received contracts worth UAH 1.5 billion from the Ministry of Defense in 2023 to supply summer clothing and underwear for the Armed Forces. At least 17 contracts have been canceled.

Censor.NET also wrote that SBI officers detained a Lviv businessman while he was trying to bribe one of the heads of the SBI's Main Investigation Department with $500,000. According to media reports, it was Ihor Hrynkevych. His face was revealed by law enforcement through anonymous telegram channels.

On December 29, it was reported that a Lviv businessman, one of the largest suppliers to the Ministry of Defense, bribed the head of the SBI's Main Investigation Department for $500,000. It was also reported that the Defense Ministry had one unexpired contract with Hrynkevych's company, which supplies food to the military in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
