Putin says number of Russian troops in Ukraine reaches 600,000
According to Putin’s estimates, 600,000 Russian troops are involved in the fighting in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has estimated the number of Russian army in the combat zone in Ukraine at 600 thousand people. This is almost half of the full-time strength of the Russian army, and almost equal to the officially reported number of contract soldiers.
According to Putin's December decree, the number of servicemen in the Russian army increased by 130,000 to 1,320,000, including 130,000 conscripts. That is, according to him, about 45 percent of the Russian military's authorized strength is in Ukraine.
