Ukraine’s losses from war amount to almost $499 billion - Shmyhal

As a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the sectors of trade, industry, agriculture, energy, and transportation have suffered the most.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the presentation of the third damage and recovery needs assessment of Ukraine (RDNA3), conducted with the participation of the World Bank, Censor.NET reports.
"As of the end of 2023, Ukraine's total economic, social and other losses amounted to almost $499 billion. The sectors that suffered the most were trade, industry, agriculture, energy and transportation," he said.
The Prime Minister reminded that currently the financial need for the reconstruction of Ukraine is almost 486 billion dollars.
According to him, $15 billion of this amount should be spent on "rapid recovery."
Shmyhal emphasized that over the past year, the need for reconstruction has continued to grow, especially in the housing sector, "where 10% of the total housing stock has been destroyed or damaged due to the enemy's actions."
"We also have negative dynamics in the agricultural sector and in the environment due to the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and the mining of our lands," the Prime Minister added.
