Number of countries are currently discussing what could lead to peace process in Ukraine - Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that peace in Ukraine could be achieved at any time. To do so, Putin simply needs to withdraw his troops from Ukraine.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung.
"For example, right after the war started, Russia and Ukraine held direct talks with each other. Then the talks failed because Russia used them only as a pretext to simultaneously move its troops east for a major offensive. Then the massacres in Bucha and Irpin came to light - unimaginable human rights crimes committed by the Russian armed forces against civilians. This deprived the negotiations of any basis," he stressed.
After that, they discussed a "grain deal", but "Putin cancelled it again at some point", the chancellor continued.
According to Scholz, there were also talks about security at the Zaporizhzhia NPP or the exchange of prisoners.
"A number of countries, including Ukraine, are now discussing at the level of security advisers what something that could lead to a peace process might look like. But let me make one thing clear: peace is possible at any time. Putin just needs to call off his barbaric campaign and withdraw his troops," he added.
